The Criminal Division hears felony trial cases in the City of Chicago.
Felony cases are defined as criminal offenses carrying possible prison terms of more than one year.
Other matters heard at this court: habeas corpus and extradition in criminal cases, petitions to expunge records of arrest,
petitions for post-conviction relief,
and the appeals for felony cases.
The Criminal Division is also responsible for
the night narcotics courtrooms.
Michael O'Meara is a former prosecutor at the Criminal Court Building and
is now available to represent defendants who have been charged with
any type of felony, including drug or weapon possesion, battery, assault,
theft, burglary, sexual assault and murder.
